Yuyuan Garden – A Memorial to Dr. Lin Qiaozhi

Yuyuan Garden is a garden built in memory of Dr. Lin Qiaozhi. It is a small garden in the style of a garden, and the environment is very nice.
There is a white marble statue of Dr. Lin Qiaozhi in the garden, a statue with hands holding a newborn baby, and a memorial hall with an exhibition of pictures of Lin Qiaozhi’s life. Yuyuan Garden is located on Fuxing Road, Gulangyu Island.


The whole garden covers an area of 5,700 square meters. There are flower beds on both sides of the roads in the garden, planted with flowers such as aster, aglaia odorata, and hibiscus rosa-sinensis, welcoming visitors along the way. There is a platform in the garden, covering an area of 1,000 square meters and made of granite square bricks.


The white marble statue of Dr. Lin Qiaozhi stands on the right side of the platform. Opposite the statue is an exhibition hall of Dr. Lin Qiaozhi’s life achievements, displaying some of the real objects she used during her lifetime, her works, more than a hundred photos of her social activities, work, and life, as well as other precious materials.


Dr. Lin Qiaozhi was born into a teacher’s family on Gulangyu Island. She had noble medical ethics and excellent medical skills. In her life, she personally delivered more than 50,000 babies and treated countless gynecological patients, but she remained single herself.


This quiet garden was built in memory of Dr. Lin Qiaozhi. The character “毓” in Yuyuan means to cultivate and raise. Therefore, the memorial garden is named Yuyuan, expressing the respect of the local people for Dr. Lin Qiaozhi.


There is also Haoyue Garden nearby for visitors to visit.


Opening hours: Open 24 hours a day throughout the year. The specific business status is subject to the opening situation on the day.
