Yingtian Temple in Chengdu, Sichuan

Yingtian Temple is located at the foot of Muma Mountain in Shengli Town, south of Dongsheng Town, Shuangliu County, Chengdu City, Sichuan Province. Covering an area of about 40 mu, it is built along the mountain, showing a majestic momentum.
Yingtian Temple has a long history. It was first built during the Tianjian period of the Liang Dynasty and its scale gradually expanded later. Although the halls of the current Yingtian Temple are not as bustling as those of temples like Wenshu Yuan and Zhaojue Temple, which are filled with incense all day long, crowded with believers, echoing with bells and chimes, and having continuous religious ceremonies, there are still many people who come here specifically to burn incense and worship Buddha.

Since Master Fo Zhi took over as the abbot in 1990, four new halls, a cremation pagoda courtyard, a common pagoda, and living quarters have been built. On the poetry screen beside the Dabeidian Hall, there is a long poem by Ouyang Jiong engraved on the front and a five-character ancient poem written by Master Fo Zhi for the开光 of the Jade Buddha Hall engraved on the back, giving a feeling of “the rhyme connection of poets from different generations”. The couplets written by the master can be seen everywhere, which contain profound Buddhist wisdom and reflect a strong Buddhist cultural heritage.

Opening hours: Open from 7:00 – 18:00 throughout the year
