Wufengxi Ancient Town: A Serene Getaway Near Chengdu

Wufengxi Ancient Town, located on the banks of the Tuo River in the middle section of the Longquan Mountains, is an ancient town near Chengdu. The town is home to well-preserved and distinctive buildings from the Ming and Qing dynasties, which can be leisurely appreciated. It is an ideal place for a weekend getaway with the elderly and children to relax.
Wufengxi Ancient Town is a tranquil town with a light commercial atmosphere, allowing visitors to savor the charm of the ancient town at a leisurely pace. Visitors can offer incense and pray for blessings at the Guanyin Hall for themselves and their loved ones. They can also experience Western-style religion at the church, and might even come across a wedding if they are lucky.

The ancient town boasts a variety of immigrant cultures. The Jiangxi Guild Hall is a gathering place for descendants of Hakka people from Jiangxi, who still use the term ‘laobiao’. The town’s ancient sites include Guansheng Palace, Wangye Temple, Huosheng Temple, Nanhua Palace, and Bingling Temple, which is 1.5 kilometers away from the town. Originally named Binglingzhan, during the Three Kingdoms period, Liu Bei, while campaigning against the Wu Kingdom, intended to build a tomb at Bingling. However, Zhuge Liang disagreed and instead built a shop that occupied the intended tomb site, hence the name.
