The Horse-Tying Stone in Kuanzhai Alleys

The Horse-Tying Stone is a relief wall in Kuanzhai Alleys. It was the stone where the bannermen’s descendants tied their horses in the past. It has been preserved to this day and witnessed the history of the Qing army’s advance into Chengdu more than 300 years ago. With modern people’s paintings added, it is now more interesting and vivid.
The large stone is square, about 4 meters high and more than 10 meters in circumference, with distinct four edges. There is a round hole chiseled through diagonally on the southwest edge. According to legend, when Liu Yuan built a stronghold to resist the Yuan Dynasty on Tianzhu Mountain at the end of the Song Dynasty, he chiseled this hole for tying horses. Now, with the construction of Liandan Lake, the stone is submerged by water.
