Across the street from Hejiang Pavilion, there is a newly built small park – Sishu Park, which is a great place for leisure after meals on ordinary days.
Sishu Park has beautiful scenery and lush vegetation, just like other small parks. However, it is a park with profound water culture connotations.
In the center of the park, there are five giant rough stone pillars standing tall. These five stone pillars are engraved with the five major water control projects in Chengdu’s history, and also record the historical process of Chengdu’s origin and prosperity due to water. Each major water control project in Chengdu’s history has strongly promoted the development of Chengdu’s social, economic and cultural aspects.
On each stone pillar in Sishu Park, there is a red seal engraving like a seal, which indicates the water control content engraved on this stone pillar. The seal engravings on the five stone pillars are respectively: Bie Ling’s water control, Li Bing’s excavation of the two rivers, Wen Weng’s governance of the Jian River, Gao Pian’s renovation of the Fu River, and Eternal Fame.
Next to each stone pillar, there are four large stones corresponding to them, on which the deeds of the four water control heroes, Bie Ling, Li Bing, Wen Weng, and Gao Pian, are detailed.
These five stone pillars surround the central fountain, forming a gorgeous water scene. Every weekend or holiday, the stone pillars will spray crystal clear water columns, which converge into the pool. This fountain symbolizes the origin of Chengdu’s prosperity – Dujiangyan.
Opening hours: Open all day from January 1st to December 31st.
