Sichuan Jianchuan Museum Cluster: A Comprehensive Cultural Experience

The Sichuan Jianchuan Museum Cluster is one of the largest private museums in China, featuring four major series: Anti-Japanese War, Folklore, Red Era, and Earthquake. The architecture within the cluster, designed by renowned architects, offers a unique pleasure in appreciating the diverse styles.
Not only does the museum cluster concentrate over 20 small museums in one area, but it also includes hotels, tea houses, and cultural relic stores within the premises. An artificial lake in the northern part of the museum area enhances the leisurely atmosphere, making it akin to a large park.

The well-known Anti-Japanese War series consists of five exhibition halls and three squares. Each hall showcases the hardships of the war years through valuable historical materials, artifacts, images, and lifelike restorations. The Zhongliudi Zhu Pavilion, a bright orange cube, serves as the first stop for visitors.

The Folklore series, comprising six exhibition halls, houses a vast collection of folk artifacts from Western Sichuan and across the country, including plaques, embroidered shoes, and foot-binding cloths.

The Red Era series presents the era to modern audiences through various forms of tickets, Cultural Revolution propaganda posters, phonographs, and slides.

The newly built Earthquake Series Museum is open to the public for free, with a somewhat oppressive space filled with collections related to the 2008 Wenchuan Earthquake. Faced with so many exhibition halls, it is recommended to select one or two halls from each series based on personal interests.
