There are approximately 300,000 peonies of various varieties planted in Shenyang Peony Garden. It has collected as many as 270 famous peony varieties from home and abroad. It can be said that Shenyang Peony Garden gathers the finest peonies and famous peony varieties from all over the world in one garden.
Shenyang Peony Garden started to introduce peonies in 2009 and carried out planting experiments in the natural environment of Northeast China in areas such as Fushun, Anshan, Shenyang, and Fuxin. In-depth research was conducted on the problem that peonies cannot survive for a long time in the Northeast, and a set of planting methods, techniques, and experiences suitable for the climate and soil in the Northeast region were developed. The results reached an advanced level recognized by the Forestry Department of Liaoning Province in October 2015. Then large-scale trial planting began at the Qipanshan Base, filling the gap in large-scale peony planting in the Northeast.
