QuanNan Church: A Historical Christian Landmark in Quanzhou

QuanNan Church is located at No. 374, Zhongshan Middle Road, Quanzhou City. In the second year of the Tongzhi era of the Qing Dynasty (1863), Reverend Du Jia De from the British Presbyterian Church came to Quanzhou to preach. Three years later, QuanNan Church was officially established. With a history of 140 years, it has always been the center of Christian activities in Quanzhou and is renowned both domestically and internationally.

The church has undergone three reconstructions throughout its history. The old church was built in 1927 and was reconstructed after being bombed by the Japanese army in 1938; in 1949, the main hall and bell tower were partially rebuilt, and on February 22, 2002, the old church was demolished for reconstruction, which was completed in December 2007. The new church covers an area of 3,500 square meters.

While retaining the original architectural style, the new church has added modern facilities such as central air conditioning, elevators, and multimedia, making it one of the largest and most advanced churches in Fujian Province. It is open all year round from 08:00 to 17:00.
