Pengzhou Bailu Shangshuyuan: A French Catholic Church and Former Seminary

Pengzhou Bailu Shangshuyuan is located in Bailu Town, Pengzhou City. It is a French-style Catholic church building, originally constructed in 1895, and once served as a theological seminary for training Catholic missionaries.
The architecture is reminiscent of Harry Potter’s magical school, grand in scale, featuring carved balustrades, arched windows, curved steps, and a blend of Gothic and Roman architectural styles, transporting visitors to a foreign land.

Having withstood a century, Pengzhou Bailu Shangshuyuan suffered damage in the 2008 earthquake, but its main structure was preserved. Its Western architectural features, combined with its location in a mountain ravine, have attracted the attention of countless photographers. Post-earthquake reconstruction has turned this place into a tourist attraction, welcoming visitors from all directions.

The opening hours are Tuesday to Sunday from 09:00 to 16:30 all year round; closed all day on Mondays.
