Laochengdu Folk Custom Park is located under the Renmin South Road Overpass. It covers an area of 45 mu, with a green area of 20,000 square meters. The entire folk custom park consists of three parts: a bronze sculpture group, a mural wall, and a miniature landscape.
The design is neat and the layout is uniquely ingenious. The bronze sculpture group reflects some old occupations and children’s games in Laochengdu that have long disappeared, such as those pushing wheelbarrows, making sugar figures, picking ears for others, sawyers, locksmiths… The figures are of different shapes and vivid, bringing a strong nostalgic flavor of life.
The mural wall is interspersed among the bronze sculpture group, echoing each other and complementing each other. Most of the murals reflect the life scenes and traditional folk houses of Laochengdu. In addition, there are also some texts about the mountains, waters, cuisine, and customs of Chengdu. People linger among these bronze sculptures, murals, and texts, sighing with admiration. The older generation of Chengdu people created this city with rich connotations with their industrious hands and left us a brilliant treasure of folk culture.
For the miniature landscape, the designer selected several representative places or buildings in Laochengdu and put them together, making this traditional beauty shine together and giving visitors a sense of being on the scene. Most of the places selected for the landscape have disappeared, leaving only the place names as a memorial, and some have even changed their names. This group of miniatures provides a platform for those who have never been to Chengdu to understand the past and can also meet the psychological needs of some nostalgic Chengdu people.
