Jiaozi Financial Museum: A Cultural Landmark for Chengdu’s Financial History

The Jiaozi Financial Museum boasts a total construction area of 426 square meters, with nearly 1800 square meters dedicated to exhibition space. It aims to delve into the historical culture behind the creation of the world’s first paper currency, Jiaozi. The museum retraces the life cycle of Jiaozi, explores its operational mechanisms, and reveals its influence and legacy, establishing a cultural landmark for the joint construction of the Western Financial Center by Chengdu and Chongqing.
The museum comprises two main exhibition halls. The first hall, ‘Paper as Currency,’ unveils the historical context of Jiaozi’s birth in Chengdu and its evolutionary development. The second hall, ‘Jiaozi’s Global Influence,’ focuses on the issuance and management system of Jiaozi and its impact on subsequent paper currencies.


Opening hours: The museum is open year-round from Tuesday to Sunday, 09:00-17:00; closed all day on Mondays.
