Hu Family Courtyard is located in Jinhua Town, Xinjin County. It was built in 1937 and was originally the private residence of Hu Yusheng, the brigade commander of the 27th Army’s mixed brigade.
The building materials of Hu Family Courtyard are blue bricks, gray tiles, bluestones, and wooden skirting boards. The layout of the building adopts the common quadrangle form of Western Sichuan folk houses. In order to avoid giving people a sense of emptiness in the courtyard, the builders skillfully adopted the form of two connected quadrangles, front and back. The overall layout is clear in levels, well-arranged in disorder, and shows unique ingenuity. It can be regarded as a model of classical Western Sichuan folk houses.
