Dujiangyan Chenghuang Temple Introduction

Dujiangyan Chenghuang Temple is located on Xingfu Road, Dujiangyan City, Chengdu, Sichuan Province. It is situated at the southern foot of Yulei Mountain and on the north side of Yulei Mountain Square, next to the Dujiangyan Scenic Area.
In the 47th year of the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty (1782 AD), the Taoist priest Zhang Laixi raised funds through alms to build it. In the past two hundred years, it has been burned down twice.

After the liberation, the Chenghuang Temple once served for local government affairs, and the Guankou County Children’s Palace also used to work here.

Today’s Chenghuang Temple was rebuilt after the reform and opening up on the original site of the Qing Dynasty according to the needs of economic construction. It covers an area of more than 3,000 square meters and a building area of more than 1,700 square meters. It consists of two major parts: the “Ten Halls” and the “Main Hall of the City God”.

The statues in the Ten Halls are shaped according to the local folk legends about water control in Guankou County. The content includes “White Dragon Pond”, “Erlang Fighting the Dragon”, “Zhao Yu Slaying the Flood Dragon”, “Wang Po Capturing the Dragon”, etc.

In front of the “Main Hall of the City God” is the “Hall of the Horse King”. To the left are the “Hall of the Goddess” and the “Hall of the Avalokitesvara”, etc.

Opening hours: Open 24 hours a day throughout the year
