De’an Ancient Fortress is located in Wufeng Village, Tingxi Town, Tong’an District, Xiamen. It was constructed during the Qing Dynasty’s Qianlong period, and the completion of the fortress spanned two generations. This fortress is a quintessential Tulou-style architecture, with only its lower half built from stream stones. Inside the fortress lies a three-story quadrangle structure, with 33 rooms on each level, totaling 99 rooms.
Adjacent to the fortress runs a small stream, which is two kilometers long and filled with giant boulders. The surrounding walls are entirely constructed from massive stream pebbles, and these walls are passable for pedestrians. It is said that this area has now become a picturesque agritourism spot, where you can invite a few friends to barbecue and enjoy tea gatherings on weekends. The fortress is open all year round from 09:30 to 17:00. For preferential policies, please refer to the additional information provided by the scenic area.1.
