Dashi Lake Scenic Area is located at the foot of Yingzuishan in Lanheyu Township, southeast of Benxi Manchu Autonomous County, approximately 50 kilometers from the county town. It is one of the sources of the Taizi River water system. Dashi Lake derives its name from its five interconnected lakes, which create a spectacular view with cascading waterfalls, hence the name ‘Five Lakes and Four Waterfalls’.
The first lake, named ‘Heavenly Pool Lake’, covers an area of about 180 square meters with rapid water flow, creating a natural grand waterfall. The place where the waterfall falls has deep and dark waters, and since it is the highest among the five lakes, it is likened to ‘Changbai Heavenly Pool’.
The second lake, with an area of about 65 square meters, ranks last in water area among the five lakes, but its surging water, dark green lake water, and rapid whirlpools make it the most extraordinary and the one with the most myths and legends, earning the name ‘Crystal Palace’.
The third lake has a slower flow, with an area of about 150 square meters. The lake water is clear, and fallen leaves sink to the bottom, making the lake bottom maple leaves visible, hence the name ‘Leaf-seeing Pond’. It is said to be an ideal habitat for dragons, thus called ‘Dragon Pond’.
The fourth lake, with an area of about 160 square meters, has a unique feature. There is a natural cave on the eastern cliff that can accommodate people. The cave is warm in winter and cool in summer, offering a unique experience. Standing on the cliff and overlooking the roaring lake, it resembles a dragon galloping, and looking at the cave, it seems as if there are divine beings praying and blessing inside. This lake is called ‘Dragon God Lake’.
The fifth lake, known as ‘Gathering of Immortals Lake’, has a water area of about 165 square meters. Water flows down from the rock crevices, becoming weaker and shallower, flowing slowly. Observing it carefully, one can imagine a gathering of immortals discussing strategies, thus it is aptly named ‘Gathering of Immortals Lake’.
In addition, the Dashi Lake Scenic Area is particularly vibrant in autumn with golden maple leaves, making the entire valley more colorful and a great place to enjoy the autumn scenery. There are also attractions such as ‘Immortal’s Guidance’, ‘Commander’s Platform’, and ‘Emerald Stone Balls’, making it an ideal sightseeing, touring, and summer retreat.
