Chunxi Grand Theatre, an established troupe in Chengdu with a 40-year performing foundation, currently operates in two venues in the Taikoo Li and Chunxi Road business districts of Chengdu: Chunxi Grand Theatre and Plum Blossom Theatre Troupe. The actor teachers in magnificent costumes are like a beautiful poem and painting on the stage. Besides presenting a visual feast for the audience, both Chunxi Grand Theatre and Plum Blossom Theatre Troupe offer experiences of trying on traditional opera costumes and makeup. This is designed to provide options such as taking photos for those who want to experience Bashu culture and inherit Chinese traditional art culture after watching the performances.
Today, Chunxi Grand Theatre and Plum Blossom Theatre Troupe are not only the “Sichuan Opera Inheritance Base” of national intangible cultural heritage but also jointly set up a public welfare fund for the inheritance of intangible cultural heritage Sichuan Opera with the Chengdu Charity Federation, contributing their part to the inheritance of Sichuan Opera culture. They initiated the “Parent-Child Special Session of Intangible Cultural Heritage Sichuan Opera”, which has attracted many parent-child families to get close to and understand Sichuan Opera. They are venues integrating research and study, suitable for all ages, and combining Sichuan Opera viewing and experience.
