Greenways originated in developed countries. It is a green space corridor that connects parks, nature reserves, scenic spots, historical monuments. Along the Funan River, it provides access for pedestrians and cyclists.
In September 2010, Chengdu began to build “greenways”. The cycling paths scattered along the riverbanks, in the forests and across the fields attract tourists to the countryside to get close to nature and experience rural charm during sports.
Wenjiang has basically completed the construction of a “one main line and five clusters” (the Jiang’an River line, Shou’an, Wanchun, Country Garden, Hesheng and Jinma greenway clusters) greenway network with a total mileage of 67 kilometers. The riverside greenway from Lvyuan along the Jiang’an River to Jingjia Courtyard has been opened up. The construction of the Country Garden area, Wanchun Happy Rural Area greenway cluster, Shou’an greenway cluster, Jinma greenway cluster and Hesheng Youqing Flower Base sightseeing greenway cluster has been completed and is in operation.
In 2010, Wenjiang implemented the “Green Wenjiang” strategy. In accordance with the development requirements of a garden city, it optimized and improved the district’s greening plan, completed the overall plan of the district’s greenway network, and promoted the construction of the district’s greenways in accordance with the overall requirements of developing rural leisure tourism.
