Chengdu Zoo is a year-round exhibit of various mammals, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and ornamental fish, with over 300 species of animals on display. In the river area, you can observe tigers, lions, golden snub-nosed monkeys, giraffes, red-crowned cranes, and elephants. The Panda Pavilion is a popular attraction. The pavilion consists of two outdoor sports fields, three air-conditioned rooms, an indoor exhibition hall, and several operational rooms.
With a long history, the zoo has showcased giant pandas since its opening. In the 1980s, Chengdu Zoo pioneered research on artificial insemination of giant pandas, achieving significant breakthroughs, and since then, giant panda cubs have been born annually. The zoo is located a considerable distance from the city center, adjacent to the Zhaojue Temple Bus Terminal. It takes approximately 40-50 minutes to travel by taxi from Chunxi Road in the city center. Next to the zoo is Zhaojue Temple, which can be visited if time permits.
