Chengdu Christian Enguang Church was initially named the Evangelical Church of the Anglo-American Mission. In 1933, it was renamed Saishengci Chapel. It is located at No. 17, Beijie, Saishengci, Jinjiang District. Its predecessor was the Methodist Episcopal Church of Canada. It has a history of 110 years to date.
It is one of the older and relatively well-preserved churches among the open churches in Chengdu. The existing church has a history of over 80 years and is a church where believers in the urban area and suburban counties are relatively concentrated.
Designed and supervised by the missionary and architect Su Jixian, it belongs to the German Bavarian architectural style. The church covers an area of more than 3,000 square meters, with a usable area of more than 1,200 square meters and a height of about 18 meters.
After the implementation of the policy of freedom of religious belief in 1980, the relevant departments renovated the church. It officially reopened on New Year’s Day in 1989.
