Beikangshi Street Ziku in Chengdu

The Ziku (a place for burning waste paper with characters) on Beikangshi Street is located in Jinjiang District, Chengdu. It was built during the Qing Dynasty. The Ziku is also known as the Xizi Pagoda. In ancient times, people cherished words as much as gold. Any paper with calligraphy works could not be discarded casually and had to be incinerated centrally in the Ziku. The Ziku is about 7.6 meters high and covers an area of about 4.39 square meters.
