The Baoguang Guihu Cultural Area is composed of three distinct elements: the Baoguang Temple, Guihu Lake, and the Guihu Forest Square.
Baoguang Temple, one of the ‘Four Great Buddhist Groves’ in southern China since the Qing Dynasty, features five main halls and sixteen courtyards. The key structures include the Mountain Gate Hall, Heavenly Kings Hall, Sarira Pagoda, Seven Buddhas Hall, Mahavira Hall, and Arhat Hall, with the Arhat Hall being particularly renowned.
Outside the temple, Guihu Lake, which dates back to the Sui and Tang dynasties, later became the study garden of the Ming Dynasty scholar Yang Shen’an. Guihu is an elegant and tranquil official garden with well-preserved ancient city walls stretching 850 meters, as well as a collection of Eastern Han dynasty画像砖, Tang dynasty金银器, rare books, and calligraphic paintings from various dynasties.
