Baita Yu Pagoda: A Scenic Landmark in Xingcheng

Baita Yu Pagoda, commonly known as the Octagonal Exquisite Pagoda, also referred to as the Nine Dragons Smoke Pagoda, is one of the eight ancient scenic spots of Xingcheng. It is located on a hill south of Jiulong Mountain in Tagou Village, Baita Township, Xingcheng City, Liaoning Province. Surrounded by peculiar peaks and converging springs, the area becomes especially enchanting during rainy days when mist and clouds envelop the summit of Jiulong Mountain, creating an ethereal experience akin to entering a fairyland.
The pagoda, dating back to the Liao Dynasty, is a unique brick structure with exquisite craftsmanship. Baita Yu Pagoda exemplifies the typical features of a Liao Dynasty’s multi-eave tower. It is hollow inside, with a sequence from bottom to top of the underground palace, middle palace, and heavenly palace. Unfortunately, the cultural relics in the underground palace were plundered in earlier years. The pagoda is divided into four parts from bottom to top: the base, the body, the multi-eaves, and the top. It is open all year round, with full-day access.
