Gulang Cave Introduction

Gulang Cave is located on the southwestern coast of Gulangyu Island, right in front of the shore of “Gulang Villa”.
This is a weathered rock cave that has been penetrated by the impact of ocean waves over thousands of years. Whenever there are spring tides, with strong winds and high waves, the crashing waves hitting the cave produce a loud rumbling sound, and thus the name “Gulang” (literally means in Chinese, which implies the sound of waves hitting) came into being.

This reef extends about 20 meters. The cave is about 3 meters high and more than 1 meter wide.

On top of the cave, there is an acacia tree about 1 meter tall and as thick as a bowl mouth. People call it the “antique tree”. It tenaciously takes root in the weathered rock crevices, adding vitality to “Gulang Cave”.

Opening hours: Open 24 hours a day throughout the year
