Yunding Mountain is located in the northern part of Tong’an District, Xiamen City, within the territory of Tingxi Town, Tong’an District, and borders Anxi County and Nan’an County, with a boundary marker on the mountain.
The summit of Yunding Mountain is often shrouded in clouds and mist, hence the name Yunding Mountain. In winter, the temperature on Yunding Mountain is generally about 5 degrees lower than at the base, and during cold waves affecting Xiamen, the temperature on the mountain usually drops below minus three degrees Celsius. Frost is a common occurrence on the mountain.
Yunding Mountain covers an area of about 9 square kilometers, with a southward gentle slope and a steep northward slope, composed of granitic porphyry. The mountain is rich in water sources with dense streams, converging southward into Tingxi.
On Yunding Mountain stands the ‘Boundary Marker of Three Regions’, which is not only a place for visitors to climb and explore but also a place with profound cultural accumulation. From late March to early April each year, the azaleas bloom all over the mountain, making it an ideal place for people to enjoy beautiful scenery and explore culture.
The mountain is open all year round, accessible 24/7. Essential tips: The temperature difference at the summit is significant, so visitors are advised to bring a coat.
