Dachaoyang National Forest Park Introduction

Dachaoyang National Forest Park was established in 1993. It is located in the middle of the east side of Lvshan Mountain, on the western outskirts of Beizhen City. The forest coverage rate is 90%. There are nearly 300 hectares of in the park, and more than 200 species of ornamental trees. It is green all year round and beautiful in all four seasons.
The natural scenery of Dachaoyang Scenic Area is peculiarly beautiful. It can be described as having dense forests, many trees, steep mountains, strange peaks, odd stones, secluded gorges, beautiful waters and clear springs. The scenery varies in spring, summer, autumn and winter. The unique natural Chinese pine forest in East Asia is second to none in the country and is known as the “Sea of Forests in Lvshan”. There are many ancient and famous trees, mainly including Dragon Claw Pine, Sister Pine, Pity Pine, etc.


The stone wonders in this scenic area include: Forest Sea Sail, White Elephant Watching the Sea, Double-line Sky, Crescent Moon Cave, Taking the Lead, Heaven above Heaven, Peaks with Overlapping Greens, the Eighteen Steeps of the Natural Barrier in Lvshan, Camel Peak, etc. They are exquisitely crafted and vividly shaped.


The hydrological landscapes include Qinglong Spring, Longyang Spring, East Sea Dragon Spring, Holy Well, Three-tiered Pool, etc.


The cultural landscapes in the scenic area are rich in content, with a long history, high popularity and wide social influence. The main one is the famous Taoist temple – Sanqingguan. It consists of three groups of buildings, upper, middle and lower. The construction area is 850 square meters and the floor area is more than 3,000 square meters. It has a long history and is well-known at home and abroad. The cliff carving of “Fortune and Longevity” handwritten by Chen Tuan, the founder of Taoism, is extremely precious. The Taoist master Zhang Sanfeng studied Taijiquan and Marrow Washing Skill here when he was young. Now, the golden statue of the founder is enshrined in the “Hidden Immortals Palace” of the middle courtyard.
