Xingcheng Ancient City Wall Introduction

The city wall of Xingcheng Ancient City was first built in the third year of Xuande in the Ming Dynasty (1428 AD). It is one of the few ancient city wall buildings from the Ming and Qing dynasties in China and a specimen of a military defense city in the Ming Dynasty. Similar to the city walls of Pingyao, Xi’an, and Jingzhou, it is one of the four relatively intact ancient city walls remaining in China.
The city wall is square in shape, with a perimeter of 3,274 meters.

There is a city gate in the center of each of the four sides of the city wall. Above each city gate, there is an arrow tower, which is a two-story pavilion.

There are platforms at the four corners of the city wall, protruding from the city corners.

Opening hours: Open 24 hours a day throughout the year
