The Leaning Tower in Qianwei Town, Suizhong County, Huludao City, Liaoning Province

The Leaning Tower in Qianwei Town, Suizhong County, Huludao City, Liaoning Province was built in the Liao Dynasty. Also known as the Ancient Tower of Ruizhou, the existing tower is 10 meters high. The tower body tilts 12 degrees towards the northeast, and the horizontal displacement of the tower tip is 1.7 meters.
Although the tower has been damaged by several earthquakes and floods since its completion, it has always remained leaning but not collapsing. Its inclination exceeds that of any leaning tower at home and abroad. Moreover, it was completed more than 300 years earlier than the Leaning Tower of Pisa in Italy.

It is a solid multi-eaved brick tower. The tower base is made of stone, and the tower body is built with bricks. It is divided into three levels and is octagonal in shape.

The leaning tower has a single top. There used to be a top cover on the top, but now it has collapsed and is incomplete. The existing tower is about ten meters high.

The original brick carvings of flying apsaras on the tower body and the Buddha statues in the niches of the tower body have all been stolen and destroyed. Many of the blue bricks at the bottom of the tower body have been artificially demolished, revealing extremely uneven stone edges. The top and surroundings of the tower are covered with withered grass, making this leaning tower, which has witnessed more than a thousand years of wind and rain, look completely different.

Opening hours: Open from 8:00 – 18:30 throughout the year
