Introduction to Ma’er Mountain in Shenyang, Liaoning

Ma’er Mountain is one of the five functional scenic areas in Shenyang Green Island Airport Tourism Economic Zone. It is located in Yaoqianhutun Town. Ma’er Mountain got its name because there are two peaks on the mountain, standing side by side, which closely resemble the two ears of a horse.
There are naturally formed stone figures, stone horses, Chaoyang Cave, Beiyin Cave, stone sheds, stone coffins and Tiger Cave on the mountain. There is also the site of an ancient beacon tower formed in history. At the foot of Nanshan, there is the site of a (Medicine King Temple).


Ma’er Mountain releases infinite charm with its beautiful natural scenery and typical northern rural scenery. Nearly 10,000 people spontaneously come here for mountain climbing and outings every year.


At present, Ma’er Mountain has 1,277 mu of orchards. The main varieties are apple pears, Nanguo pears and hawthorns. Others such as 123 apples, apricots, plums, Chinese hawthorns, and dwarf cherry plums also have a certain scale. The three months of August, September and October every year are good seasons for tourists to experience the joy of picking.


Liaoning Cherry Valley Co., Ltd. entered Ma’er Mountain in 2000. Its greenhouse and open-air cherry orchards will also produce a considerable output in 2006.


Hundreds of thousands of wild fish add beautiful colors to the environment here. The tourist area has beautiful scenery, the fragrance of fruits wafts in the air, and the scenery is boundless. Integrating with various fruit picking gardens, Hulu Spring and Qiuyue Lake, it forms a beautiful natural landscape painting.


At present, it has become a self-picking base with a relatively large planting area and a relatively complete variety of fruits and vegetables in the whole city.
