Shenyang Zhongxin Temple: The Heart of the Ancient City

Zhongxin Temple is a renowned historical site located between the Shenyang Imperial Palace and Zhongjie Street, serving as the central landmark of the Ming and Qing Dynasty’s Shenyang ancient city.
Although Zhongxin Temple is one of the smaller temples in Shenyang, covering only half an acre, its significance is paramount due to its position north of the Dazheng Hall in the Shenyang Imperial Palace, which is precisely the center of the Ming and Qing Shenyang ancient city.

Since the Qing Dynasty, there have been numerous legends among the local people of Shenyang about this temple, with the most widespread being the story of Guan Yu, the God of War, protecting the emperor at Zhongxin Temple.

Inside the temple, deities such as the Earth God and the Mountain God are also enshrined, each with their own widely circulated folktales.
