Datang Peony Garden is located on Pengbai Road, Longfeng Town, Pengzhou City, and is renowned for its abundant variety of flowers, with peonies being the primary attraction. The garden features Tang Dynasty-style architecture and cultivates a wide array of flowers, making it one of the must-visit spots on the tourism route.
The garden, named ‘Datang Peony Garden’, faces the ancient Baozang Temple to the north and is adjacent to the Tang Dynasty’s Samadhi Water Zen Court to the south.
Originally established during the Tianbao era of the Tang Dynasty, the garden is said to have been built by a local wealthy merchant named Zhou Renxing, and was initially named ‘Renxing Garden’. Later, Emperor Xuanzong of Tang bestowed the name ‘Datang Peony Garden’. The current Datang Peony Garden was restored and rebuilt on the original site by Mr. Zhou Zhongjun, a descendant of the Zhou family, in 2009.
The garden’s architectural style is primarily based on Tang Dynasty imitation, characterized by its simple elegance and grand scale. The garden is adorned with pavilions, towers, lakes, mountain villas, cascading waterfalls, and a variety of exotic flowers and plants, all arranged in a harmonious and picturesque manner. The garden is open to visitors from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM all year round.
