Jiuzhaigou’s Sparkling Sea Damaged by Earthquake

On August 8, 2017, an earthquake tore a 50-meter breach in the Sparkling Sea in Jiuzhaigou, causing severe damage to the scenic spot.
Formerly, the Sparkling Sea, nestled between the Twin Dragon Sea and the Sleeping Dragon Sea, was surrounded by lush forests. Every morning, as the sun rises, the lake surface shimmers with golden light, resembling countless sparks dancing in the water; in the evening, against the backlight, one can also see the lake surface sparkling.

In summer, the wildflowers by the sea, with dewdrops on them, glisten in the sunlight, complementing the sparks in the sea.
