The ‘Pen-Throwing Gully’ on Qingcheng Mountain

The ‘Pen-Throwing Gully’ on Qingcheng Mountain, also known as the ‘Brush-Rinsing Gully’, has a fracture gully that extends from the top of the rock to the foot of the mountain. It is about 70 meters deep and 18 meters wide. The two rocks are broken, overlooking a deep valley. In ancient times, a wooden bridge spanned across it, which made people tremble with fear and dizzy. Later, a passage was chiseled along the rock wall, with a stone railing beside it. Here, with the red rock above your head and overlooking the deep valley, the scenery is extremely spectacular and dangerous. It is named Pianqiao (the Inclined Bridge).
‘Records of Scenic Spots in Shu Region’ quotes ‘The True Forms of the Five Great Mountains Map’ as saying: ‘At the location of Longqiao, the two mountains are more than a hundred steps apart. The peaks stand upright and face each other. There are overhanging cliffs on both sides, overlooking an unfathomable abyss. There is a Vow Stone beside the mountain. Zhang Daoling, the Celestial Master, made a vow with the ghost soldiers.’

He ordered the demon king not to harm the common people any more. He drew on the mountain with a vermilion brush, and the brushstroke became a gully, leaving behind a wonderful spectacle.
