Anren Tram: A Journey Through Time in Chengdu’s Ancient Town

The Anren Tram is located within the ancient town of Anren in Dayi County, Chengdu, passing through various scenic spots within the town, including the second phase of the Republic of China-style street, where the ‘De Men Ren Li Station’ is established.
At the entrance, the Anren Coffee Museum, originally built as a three-section official hall in Shangrao, Jiangxi during the late Qing Dynasty, was transformed into the Anren Coffee Museum in September 2018. It is a multifunctional cultural space integrating exhibition, experience, operation, retail, and cultural exchange, and is also the first innovative museum in Anren Ancient Town.

Passing through the second phase of the Republic of China-style street, the tram enters the Central Street, passing by Renhe Street. This area is known for its convenient transportation and numerous shops. Each shop here has its unique features, including bookstores, stationery, clocks and glasses, pastries and candies, jewelry and jade… everything one could desire.

The commercial buildings on Central Street possess the characteristics of traditional Western Sichuan residential architecture, with double eaves on the outside of the shops creating a bright ‘public space’ for the owners, suitable for resting and receiving guests.

To the right at the junction of Central Street and Renhe Street is another entrance to Anren’s Republic of China-style street (Pao Ge Building), which is also the third tram station, ‘Hong Qi Ba’. Following the track, one arrives at Liu Wenhui’s Mansion, and the next stop is Liu’s Manor Station, which is also the final stop of this tram journey.

The station is also a coffee shop, where Platform Coffee integrates coffee, tea art, and aesthetic living into a leisure space, becoming a popular spot for film and internet celebrity photo shoots. The shop offers coffee, tea, fruit drinks, and desserts in an elegant environment, making it an ideal place for rest and relaxation. It is open all year round from 09:30 to 17:30.
