Drilling Sky Break: A Challenging Section of Mount Emei

Between Jiulinggang and Xixiangchi lies a steep slope known as the Drilling Sky Break. This mountain path stretches approximately 2.5 kilometers long with nearly 1500 stone steps, featuring an extremely steep gradient, nearing an 80-degree incline at its steepest points.
This is one of the most demanding sections of Mount Emei, testing your physical strength, endurance, and courage. Due to the precipitous terrain, there are no shops or restrooms along this path, so it is necessary to bring your own dry food and drinking water.

For those with acrophobia, it is advised not to look down during the journey, as the steep gradient can cause discomfort. If you are particularly apprehensive about the ninety-nine turns, then challenging this section may not be necessary.

The area is open all year round from 06:00 to 17:00, with specific business status subject to the day’s opening conditions.
