Plum Blossom Theatre, a veteran drama troupe with a 40-year performance history, currently operates two venues in the Taikoo Li and Chunxi Road business districts of Chengdu: Plum Blossom Theatre and Chunxi Grand Theatre. Actors dressed in magnificent costumes perform on stage with poetic elegance, offering audiences a visual feast. In addition to the performances, both venues offer traditional opera costume and makeup experiences, catering to those who wish to experience Bashu culture and the heritage of Chinese traditional arts.
Today, Plum Blossom Theatre and Chunxi Grand Theatre are not only bases for the national intangible cultural heritage of Sichuan Opera but also have established a public welfare fund with the Chengdu Charity Federation to contribute to the preservation of Sichuan Opera culture. They have pioneered a ‘Non-heritage Sichuan Opera Parent-Child Special’, attracting numerous families to explore and understand Sichuan Opera. After watching performances in Taikoo Li, audiences can directly experience Sichuan Opera, water sleeve dances, and other costume makeups.
