The Panda Time and Space Museum project is jointly created by Sichuan Publishing Group, its subsidiaries, and Shenzhen Profun Cultural Technology Co., Ltd. Under the premise of the new cultural and tourism slogan of Sichuan Province, “Tianfu’s Three Big Wonders, Enjoyable Journey in Sichuan” (the “Three Big Wonders” refer to Sanxingdui, Jiuzhaigou, and giant pandas), it is a high-tech panda-themed experience museum. The project is located at No. 1688, Panda Avenue, Chenghua District, Chengdu (right opposite the main entrance of the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding). It is close to the Chengmian and Chengnan expressways, ensuring convenient transportation.
The main building area of the project is 8,820 square meters, and the total area of the internal and external squares is 14,000 square meters. The overall building is in a U-shaped structure, and the front facade is in the shape of a panda face. It has two floors above the ground and a three-story rooftop. It is an experience service base that meets the needs of tourists at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding and integrates culture, technology, and tourism.
This project has obvious location advantages, including geographical space, industrial policies, and national treasure resource advantages. Tourist buses are available directly from the urban area, and it is also convenient to reach by self-driving, bus, subway, or taxi. With a superior geographical location and convenient transportation.
As the main urban area of Chengdu, Chenghua District is also a well-known old industrial base in Sichuan Province (it has 14 industrial relics, accounting for half of Chengdu’s total). It has more than 30 square kilometers of available land space and the ring-city ecological area of the five urban districts. At the same time, it has the characteristics and development center of Chengdu’s tourism industry. It is not only a must-visit scenic spot for those traveling to Chengdu but also a cultural and tourism business card of Chengdu. Moreover, it is a world base for the ex-situ conservation, scientific research and breeding, public education, and cultural tourism of giant pandas.
The Panda Time and Space Museum is presented in the form of a commercial complex function and cultural output. It constructs high-standard and high-quality cultural and tourism services and basic supporting facilities in the project area, becoming an important incubation “position” for the panda IP. It will become a panda IP incubator, a panda science and education research institute, an expansion area for the panda base, and an international window display area, creating a fantasy world of the “Panda Planet” and a fun paradise of the “Panda Capital”.
The exhibition hall is themed “The Power of the National Treasure”. The story line takes the “reintroduction of wild pandas” as the creative origin. From an international perspective and in the name of the “Panda Envoy”, it tells the situations encountered during the reintroduction and self-sustaining process of the panda population and the determination to bravely face difficulties, demonstrating “The Power of the National Treasure”, taking on the heavy responsibility of the “guardian”, showing China’s unique panda culture with universal values, transmitting the powerful positive energy of friendship, environmental protection, and cherishing nature and wild animals.
It also gives full play to the “panda culture”, showing the world China’s active actions in environmental protection and wild animal protection, transmitting the “Chinese solution”, spiritually sublimating the appearance of panda diplomacy, demonstrating the grandeur and attitude of a major country with the panda as a carrier, strengthening cultural confidence, and promoting the “going out” of Chinese culture.
