Earthquake Ruins Park in Wenchuan Earthquake Memorial

The earthquake ruins park built to commemorate the Wenchuan Earthquake includes four major ruins landscapes, namely the widely known Xiaoyudong Broken Bridge Ruins, Zhongfa Bridge Broken Bridge, and Bailu Upper Academy Ruins.
Xiaoyudong Town will serve as the popular science area of this earthquake ruins park, and the Xiaoyudong Bridge that records the power of the earthquake will become the starting point of the earthquake ruins park.

The Xiaoyudong Broken Bridge, also known as the Xiaoyudong Bridge, is located in Xiaoyudong Town, Pengzhou. It is 187 meters long and 12 meters wide, and is a steel arch bridge. During the Wenchuan Earthquake, the Xiaoyudong Bridge, which was just located on the fault zone, was shaken down and is no longer passable. Now there is a blue sculpture standing at the Pengzhou side of the Xiaoyudong Bridge. It is 5 meters high, 12 meters wide, and 1 meter thick, with a full steel structure. The white text on the surface of the sculpture includes an introduction to the Wenchuan Earthquake, the damage situation in Pengzhou, and the Xiaoyudong Bridge that collapsed during the earthquake.

Baolu Town: The old street in Baolu Town, Pengzhou City, is also located on the fault zone of the Wenchuan Earthquake. During the earthquake, a section of the old street by the river was instantly lifted. The originally flat street was more than 3 meters up and down, and a large number of houses were damaged.

The Bailu Upper Academy was built by French missionaries in 1908. After 1949, the upper academy basically no longer functioned as a religious site. During the Wenchuan Earthquake, this century-old relic collapsed completely in just eight seconds. The rubble piled up like mountains, the wooden columns were crisscrossed, the all-white stone gate was broken into a trapezoid, and only the bottom of the thick semi-cylindrical doorposts remained. There are plans to rebuild it on the original site.

The Zhongfa Bridge is a stone double-arch bridge. It was designed and constructed by Yuxiasong (a Frenchman) when he served as the dean of the Bailu Lower Academy. The local people named this bridge the “Zhongfa Bridge”. During the 5.12 earthquake, this bridge was severely damaged, leaving only a broken bridge with one hole and is no longer passable.

Yinchanggou: The scenic Yinchanggou was severely damaged during the Wenchuan Earthquake, and the former scenery of Yinchanggou no longer exists. It is currently under active restoration and reconstruction.

Opening hours: The specific opening hours are subject to the publicity on the scenic spot site.
