Baihua Tan Park: A Showcase of Sichuan’s Botanical Charm

Baihua Tan Park is located on the south bank of Huanhua Creek in Chengdu, neighboring Qingyang Palace and Du Fu’s Thatched Cottage. The park primarily features bonsai, highlighting Sichuan’s characteristics in its tree planting, with a particular reputation for its orchid bonsai. It is mainly composed of Lei Garden and Hui Garden, among others. The park also includes the former residence of Ba Jin.

The bonsai area features a style of ‘permeability, leakage, and emptiness’, with nearly a thousand pots of landscape and trunk bonsai on display, characterized by Sha Qi stones and trunk heads, showcasing the ‘simple elegance, vigorous and lush’ artistic style of Jiannan School bonsai. Guo Xiang Garden exhibits tens of thousands of precious orchids, capturing the essence of ‘overwhelming all fragrant flowers, with fragrance crowning the nation’.

In addition, the park features other garden scenes such as the Mu Ke Garden, Bird and Fish Corridor, West Garden, and Stone Boat, each with its unique charm, including the Ba Jin Hui Garden and a large waterfall模仿九寨沟. The park is open all year round, accessible 24/7.
