The first national exhibition of ‘Return to Sanxingdui – A Fantasy Journey into the Ancient Shu Kingdom VR Immersive Exhibition’ is scheduled at the Sichuan Museum in Chengdu (Exhibition Hall 4 on the third floor) from July 10, 2024, to December 10, 2024, open from 10:00 to 22:00. A 30-minute immersive virtual reality experience will take you back to the mysterious ancient Shu, where you can ‘return’ to the millennia-old kingdom and ‘zero-distance’ feel the extraordinary charm of Sanxingdui. Uncover the secrets buried for thousands of years and feel the mystery and splendor that have been sealed by time. The 3,600,000 square meter city site is re-created, and everything about Sanxingdui is no longer just static cultural relics in display cases and words on exhibition boards.
With lightweight VR headsets, you can travel through time and space to roam the ancient Shu kingdom, ‘face-to-face’ with elephants in the jungle a thousand years ago, immerse yourself ‘as an ancient Shu person,’ or witness the mysterious grand sacrificial ceremony on the magnificent altar, overlooking the vast changes in the Shu kingdom’s landscape…
Audiences can interact with virtual cultural relics to unlock more secrets about the ancient Shu civilization. They can also participate in the sacrificial ceremonies of the ancient Shu kingdom to personally feel the shock of the ancient Shu people’s beliefs and culture. All cultural relic data is based on precise scanning of the actual cultural relics in the Sanxingdui collection, 1:1 high-precision reconstruction and restoration of cultural relics, striving to restore the true bronze age! Leading international full-body motion capture systems achieve precise mapping of virtual and real space data, creating digital twin models in sync, capturing every frame of excitement, and creating a super realistic immersive feeling in multiple dimensions.
The venue’s 450 square meter large-scale human movable space allows for full immersion and free movement, as if you are in the ancient Shu kingdom.
