The inaugural lantern festival of the Dong’an Lake International Tourism Resort in Chengdu, China, 2024, is guided by the Chengdu Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, and Tourism, and the People’s Government of Longquanyi District, Chengdu, and hosted by Chengdu Economic Development Cultural Tourism Development Co., Ltd.
With the theme of ‘Dreamy Shu Kingdom for Three Thousand Years,’ the festival is led by the ‘Peach Blossom Fairy’ to guide visitors through the dazzling Shu capital’s ten thousand lanterns as the main story thread. It creates six major themed lantern viewing areas: Grand Dragon Year, Peach Forest Dream, Ancient Shu Path, Brilliant China, Global Tour, and Future World, as well as a special exhibition area for Tencent Games’ ‘Jin Chanchan Battle.’ It traverses a fantastic journey from ancient times to the future, presenting an incredibly shocking visual feast!
The total investment for this festival is approximately 50 million yuan, covering an area of about 250,000 square meters. It is meticulously crafted by more than 500 intangible cultural heritage craftsmen over several months, featuring more than 300 sets of extra-large, medium, and small lanterns, including a 20-meter-tall ‘Peach Blossom Fairy’ for welcoming spring and a 40-meter-long ‘Peach Blossom Dragon’ for celebrating the Dragon Year.
During the festival, the ‘Peach Blossom Spring’ national style special performance will open a wave of film and television memories; the ‘Super Time Meeting’ time-themed music party will break through the dimensional barrier; hundreds of NPCs will randomly appear on the island for zero-distance interaction, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the ‘Dong’an Lake Fantasy World’! There are also celebrity endorsements and artist collaborations to create a trendsetting direction for the festival.
The core area of the festival is located on Xi Feng Island in Dong’an Lake, where special themed lantern groups such as ‘Peach Blossom Fairy,’ ‘Peach Blossom Dragon,’ ‘Three Stars Relics,’ ‘Bronze Path,’ ‘Tang Palace Night Banquet,’ ‘River and Mountain Painting,’ and ‘Twelve Zodiacs’ are resplendent and exquisitely beautiful!
Opening times are all year round on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 16:00 to 23:00.
